Dr. Christopher Hoadley is an assistant professor jointly
appointed in the College of
Education and the School of Information
Sciences and Technology at Penn State
University. Hoadley designs, builds, and studies ways for information
technology to enhance thinking and learning. Currently his research
focuses on collaborative technologies such as knowledge management tools
and computer support for cooperative learning (CSCL). Other interests
include design-based research methodologies, the use of design activities
as a teaching method, and science and technology education at the
elementary through postsecondary levels. Hoadley previously served as the
president of the International Society of
the Learning Sciences and is past president of the American
Educational Research Association's SIG:EST (Special Interest Group on
Education in Science and Technology). He also leads the
Design-Based Research
Collective, a group funded by the Spencer Foundation to explore the
role of design-based research in education.
